Hunger in Our Community? It may be hard to believe, but right here in Mifflin and Huntington Counties we do have people who go hungry. Much has been done through other agencies to help those in our community who are in need of food. But they can't possibly do it all. Rising costs in areas such as health-care and heating fuel, not to mention all of the other costs involved in raising a family, many are having to cut back wherever they can -unfortunately, often in groceries.
Who We Are? Hand of Grace began as a result of seeing the need in our communities. Our goal is to work closely with other community agencies to eliminate the possibility of any person, especially a child, going hungry in our area.
What We Do? Each month, Hand of Grace distributes over 20,000 pounds of food to an increasing number of needy families in our area. More than 600 families regularly participate in our various distributions so more than a quarter of a million pounds of food and supplies will be distributed over a 12 month period in Mifflin County.
Those We Help? The disabled, the elderly, abandoned families, the working poor, and those facing emergency situations. Many find it hard to earn a decent wage or keep their heads above water, especially when the unexpected happen; Fire, death, crime.
Will You Help? Hand of Grace relies solely on congregational and private support. Our hope is that you will support this work and help eliminate hunger in our area. Please consider this worthy cause for our community. Send your contribution to Hand of Grace c/o Grace Covenant Church, 227 Washington Ave., Lewistown, PA 17044 ~ 717-247-2656 or 717-248-4579
